T
he National Concern Collection, which takes place the weekend of June 19- 20, inances five Catholic initiatives that impact the faithful of Wisconsin as well as throughout the United States. The National Retirement Fund for Religious provides vital funding for our sisters and all religious institutes in the United States to care for their elderly and frail members now and in the future. The Catholic Communication Cam- paign focuses on discovering new ways to deliver the gospel message to people in todays digital age - on the Internet to strengthen mar- riage, in podcasts for daily readings, on televi- sion for Christmas Mass, and on Facebook for sharing of the faith. Fifty percent of the collec- tion supports our local communications efforts in the diocese. The Archdiocese for the Military Ser- vices grants support ministry that provides for the spiritual, sacramental, and pastoral care of almost two million Catholics serving in the armed forces. The Catholic University of America, located in Washington, D.C., offers students an excellent education in a faith-filled atmosphere grounded in the Catholic intellectual tradition. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development, via the Diocesan Department of Development, provides national grants that make a difference in low-income communities to fund programs that address the very root causes of poverty. I hope you will find it within your means to consider a contribution and donate by mailing in your collection envelope to the parish or give online, if that is an option at your parish. Thanking you for your gift of stewardship and faith, I am Gratefully yours in the Lord, Most Rev. James P.
