he Diocese of Superiors next Lay Ministry Enrich- ment program, Caring for Our Sacred Spaces, is Saturday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. John The Baptist, Webster. The event is open to all lay peo- ple with a heart of service and passion for the common good. Social distancing guidelines will be followed; personal protective supplies will be available. Cost is $15 per person, including lunch and refreshments. This session is a service immersion event. The first hour will be formation regarding the value and care of sacred spaces and how intentional awareness of that sacred space enhances personal experience of faith as well as the faith of the commu- nity. The remainder of the day, participants will be actively involved in service projects at the church. The program will be led by Christine Newkirk and Bluette Puchner. Registration is due May 15. Lay Ministry Enrichment event
The Ladysmith Knights of Columbus will host their Clergy Appreciation Dinner on Wednes- day, June 22, at the JS Supper Club on Hwy. 8 between Lady- smith and Bruce. OBITUARY
Sr. Virginia Pfaller, SSSF
School Sisters of St. Francis Sr. Virginia Pfaller, 96, died at Sa- cred Heart, Milwaukee, on April 27, 2022. She was born May 19, 1925, in Milwaukee. She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis on June 13, 1946; made her first profession of vows in 1948; and made her final (perpetu- al) vows in 1954. Beginning in 1948, she ministered in Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana for more than seven decades. In the Diocese of Superior, Sr. Virginia taught at Holy Rosary School in Medford from 1948-1953. In her retirement, she served in the ministry of prayer and pres- ence in Wauto- ma, 2003-2015, and at Sacred Heart in Milwau- kee from 2015 until the time of her death. Sr. Virginia is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and -nephews; and by the School Sisters of St. Francis, with whom she shared her life for 76 years. A funeral liturgy was held May 5 at St. Joseph Chapel in Milwaukee, followed by a private burial service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Milwau- kee.

Efective Jan. 1, 2022: Retirement: Rev. Michael T. Hayden , Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Stetsonville, has retired from active priestly ministry. Cluster Update: Rev. Patrick McConnell , while remaining Pastor of the Medford cluster of parishes, which includes Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Medford; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Whittlesey; and Good Shepherd, Rib Lake, is also appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church, Stet- sonville, which is now included in the Medford cluster. Rev. Jayanna Kanna , Sacramental Minister of the Medford cluster of parishes which include Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Medford; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Whittlesey; and Good Shep- herd, Rib Lake, is appointed Associate Pastor of the above-named Medford Cluster of Parishes including Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church, Stetsonville, which is now included in the Medford cluster of parishes. Efective July 1, 2022 Retirements: Very Rev. Gregory Hopefl , Pastor of the parishes of St. Francis Solanus, Reserve, St. Philip, Stone Lake, St. Ignatius, New Post, will retire from active priestly ministry. Rev. Eugene Murphy , Pastor of the parishes of St. Joseph, Amery and Our Lady of the Lakes, Balsam Lake, will retire from active priestly min- istry. Rev. James Kinney , Pastor of the parishes of St. Pius X, Solon Springs, St. Anthony of Padua, Gordon, and St. Mary, Minong, will retire from active priestly ministry. Rev. David Neuschwander , Parochial Administrator of the parishes of St. Joseph, Hayward and St. Ann, Cable, is appointed Pastor of the parishes of St. Joseph, Hayward; St. Ann, Cable; St. Francis Solanus, Reserve; St. Philip, Stone Lake; and St. Ignatius, New Post, which establishes the new Hayward cluster of five (5) parishes. Rev.
